Tropical Storm Bonnie forms in the Atlantic

Bonnie is located 195 miles east-southeast of Bluefields, Nicaragua, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, according to the NHC. It is moving west at 18 mph.

Heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected across Nicaragua and Costa Rica Friday. The NHC says the rains can result in life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides.

If the storm keeps its strength while moving over the peninsula, it will remain Bonnie even while in the Pacific Ocean.
